This online calculator can provide an indication as to whether you are likely to pass the financial test in order to be granted legal aid on the Isle of Man. It is only a portion of the assessment to determine if you qualify for legal aid.

If you decide to proceed with an application for civil legal aid a full assessment of your financial situation will be required and this will be carried out by the Legal Aid Office. In order to facilitate this assessment you will be required to submit comprehensive financial evidence (e.g. banks statements, pay slips etc).

If you are in receipt of any of the following Isle of Man Social Security benefits you will automatically qualify, financially for civil legal aid. Please note that if you stop receiving that benefit then a full assessment will be required.

• Income Support
• Income Based Job Seekers Allowance

Please note that in addition to an assessment to ascertain whether you are financially eligible to receive civil legal aid, every application must also pass a legal merits test.
